In a strong statement, Yvan Gil, Venezuela’s foreign minister, criticized the recent meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Argentine President Javier Milei as a “show for fascists and Nazis.” Gil expressed concern over the two leaders’ approach to Venezuela, noting that they are seeking to revive a regime akin to that of Mussolini and Hitler.
The Venezuelan minister described Meloni’s attitude as “shameful,” asserting that it undermines the historical relationship between the peoples of Italy and Venezuela. He recalled that Venezuela has been a refuge for hundreds of thousands of Italian migrants who fled the horrors of extreme right-wing regimes in the past.
“We share our infinite love for the Italian and Argentine peoples who are fighting to prevent the return of the fascist terror that threatens them once again,” added Gil.
During her visit to Buenos Aires, Meloni met with Milei, who proposed the creation of an “alliance of united nations against tyranny and violence” in favor of “freedom for peoples.”
However, Gil emphasized that these statements are merely a cover for a political agenda that attacks Venezuela and promotes an ideology contrary to the values of the Bolivarian nation.
The international community is closely monitoring this meeting, as it could have significant implications for diplomatic relations in Latin America and Italy.
Venezuela, for its part, reaffirms its commitment to defending its sovereignty and resisting any attempts by governments with extremist ideologies to intervene or destabilize its affairs.
